One Last Time (Memoir) | Sabhyata Yadav

Writer: FanatiXx OutreachFanatiXx Outreach

Being engaged in everyday chores, we forget to live our lives which actually is very beautiful. But not always. It has lots of problems you have to face everyday. Don’t worry though! All these problems make you strong, it gives you courage to stand alone in future. Life is full of moments of joy, pleasure, success and comfort punctuated by misery, defeat, failures and problems. There is no human being on Earth, strong, powerful, wise or rich, who has not experienced, struggle, suffering or failure. You have to work hard to reach the highest position.

“Life is full of paths, you just have to choose the right one. It’s interesting and amazing like the stars up in the skies. Happiness, sorrow, victory, defeat, day-night are the two sides of the coin.”

You can take the example of a student, who burns the midnight oil, makes sacrifices and resists temptations so that he can perform well. Similarly, a successful executive has to face the ups and downs of life, not forgetting that life is a mix of success and failure, joy and sorrow. If he loses hope during difficult times, he would not achieve success and would be replaced by others. Even the strongest Kings and Emperors have had their cup of woes.

Life has not been a bed of roses for them. The adage ‘Uneasy lays the head that wears the crown’ has been rightly used for people, who are successful and are enjoying power and authority.

We have different types of days in our lives; some are ordinary while some are special. But there’s always a moment that comes in our life in which we, our entire life want to live again and again. I am one of those many with a memorable loving moment. I will never forget it and am happy to share it with others. It has been one of my many favourite moments in my life. That it even opened my heart to be happy and always thankful.

Also if I say there are some days that get etched in our memories forever. Likewise, I also have a memorable day of my life that is very dear to me. The memories of this day are engraved in my heart and will remain so forever.

Like every single day, the day began with the vibration of my phone, which I had slept with under my pillow the night before. When one of my friends informed me about the CBSE Board results that had been announced for a while, I was still asleep. Reading that message gave me a lot of anxiety. I sat on the bed with a jerk, rubbing my eyes. I was absolutely afraid, but there was no choice but to look at the outcomes.

As I filled out the roll number and school ID, my hands were trembling and I was shivering. However, when I checked my score card, I was absolutely confused as to whether the portal was mine or if I had input the portal of another girl. I double-checked the names “Sabhyata Yadav” and “Harendra Kumar Yadav” for the father. Both true and impossible to accept, it was mine. Even though I didn’t do well in arithmetic, I still performed incredibly well overall.

Literally, I had no words to convey the feeling of mine at that moment as I stood on my bed and started to bailando (Spanish word which means dancing in English) without giving another God damn thought. I was jubilant and preoccupied with myself when my sister, who had been sleeping next to me, woke up and yelled, “What happened to you?” I gave her a short look before responding “92%! I did it. I got ninety two percent in the board examination. I’m so happy!” She was taken aback and hesitant to accept that it was indeed my scorecard.

She grabbed my phone and started looking through the candidates’ information, just like I had done before. She finished her survey and added a comment “How is this even conceivable? You finished a series of about 720 episodes of anime that you had been watching the entire time, including during the examination period. I still find it hard to accept your outcome.” I listened to everything she said, but I refrained from commenting because only I knew how I managed to score 92% on the test.

I was blissfully moving, but my younger brother, who is just seven years old, was not aware of it. He questioned my younger sister Sanskriti about the dance as soon as he entered the room. Sanskriti described everything to her in a way that suggested she was envious of me. But it doesn’t bother me much because I don’t mind easily.

Then, my mum got to know about my results. I was expecting her to be appreciative of me, but as she spoke, I felt down to the dumps as she replied “Do you think it’s a good result then you’re taking it wrong. You ought to have received a score of 100 instead of 92” I felt like she was scolding me, but I didn’t mind her after all, she’s my mother.

With this, my ordinary morning was transformed into one of the most enjoyable moments of my life. But wait—the most significant and priceless person in my life is still to be mentioned. The person I love most deeply is my father, who I adore above everything else.

So when he did arrive that day at night, I noticed a smile on his face that I hadn’t seen since my last birthday. He usually had a glass of water when he arrived, but on that particular day, he performed by approaching me and kissing my forehead while congratulating me on my accomplishment. I forgot all the troubles I had been carrying with that kiss.

He then showed us a box of sweets that he had brought for us, which surprised me. How could I have forgotten to bring this for my lovely daughter, who is living her best life and making me proud of her? He said in extreme pleasure. I was so overcome with emotion that I gave my father a bear hug. If I were to declare that was the most lovely and memorable moment of my life, I would cherish it till the day I die.

“Everyone has a memorable unforgettable moment in their lifetime and whatever you have experienced will be the most cherished moment of my life till my last breath.”
